How We Completed Our First Site Turnaround Without an Injury

Jeremy Acosta and Ryan Edwards, Methanex Geismar

Expo A3

Our Geismar 1 unit began production as a greenfield site in January 2015. In January 2019 we began our first site turnaround (TAR). Only a handful of our employees had ever been involved in a Methanex TAR. Many had TAR experience from their former employers. Quite a few employees experienced their first ever TAR. We concluded the turnaround in early March with zero recordable injuries and no environmental incidents. This is the story of how we built our TAR team, the best practices we employed before and during the turnaround and the lessons learned that we will leverage in our next TAR.
