Navigating NFPA Standards and the Certification Pathway for Credentialing Emergency Responders

Gordon Lohmeyer, Executive Associate Division Director, Texas A & M Engineering Extension Service

Expo A3

Training is a key element in any successful response to an Industrial Emergency. Without it, you would have mass chaos on the emergency response scene.  The key elements of a successful training plan are the type, the amount and the frequency.  This presentation will take an in-depth look at OSHA Regulations and NFPA Standards and how they shape our training plans.  We will take a look at several training/certification options including: in-house training (AHJ), training provided by an accredited training provider and the newly-developed Texas Industrial Emergency Services Board (TIESB) voluntary certification program.
